Pantelis Sklias

Rector of the University of Paphos

Pantelis Sklias (1969) is a Professor of International Relations and International Political Economy (IPE) and since September 2018 Rector of the University. He also taught in the Department of International and European Studies, University of Macedonia (visiting lecturer), the Department of International Economic Relations and Development, Democritus University of Thrace, Visiting lecturer and Assistant Professor from 2002-2007, and the Hellenic Open University, 2002 until today. He graduated (1990) from the Department of International Relations of Panteion University in Athens. He was awarded both his MA in International Relations (1991) and his Ph.D. in International Relations and IPE (1998) from the University of Sussex (UK). He accomplished (2000) his post doctorate thesis at the Hellenic Center of Political Research of Panteion University with a fellowship from the State Fellowship Foundation. His post-doctoral research topic is “The IPE of the relations between the EU and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the ex-Soviet Union”. From 1999 until 2002 he has been a Visiting Research Fellow of the Postgraduate Center for Culture, Development and the Environment (CDE) of the University of Sussex. He was the Chairman (2013-2017) of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of the Peloponnese and Vice Chairman of the Special Research Committee of the University. He served (2016-2018) as a member of the Board of the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (DI.P.A.E.). In the academic year 2017-2018, he was the Dean of the School of Security and Global Studies at the American University in the Emirates in Dubai. From February 2020 onwards, he has been appointed President of the Rectors’ Conference for Cypriot Universities.

 

 

Valentina Vasile

Senior Researcher at the Institute of National Economy, Romania Academy

Valentina VASILE, Bec and MSc in Finance and Accounting, and PhD in Economics (Bucharest, Romania), is a Full Professor and Senior Researcher at the Institute of National Economy, Romanian Academy. She also serves as Director of the institute and teaches at Nicolae Titulescu University of Bucharest. Dr. Vasile is a PhD coordinator of the Doctoral School of Economic Sciences, Doctoral School of Advanced Studies of the Romanian Academy (SCOSAAR). Her research interests include labour economics, migration, human capital, digital economy, social policies, sustainable development, and circular economy, with over 300 papers published in top academic journals and participation in more than 110 research projects, both nationally and internationally, funded by programs like Horizon 2020, the Black Sea Basin ENI CBC, CEDEFOP, ILO Geneva, ILO-CEET, Norwegian Financial Mechanisms and from the Romanian research funds. Has collaborated with universities such as Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Agean University from Greece, etc. Between 2004-2020, she has served as correspondent of EurWORK European Observatory of Working Life, for Romania, Eurofound, in labor policy and working conditions. Since 2023 she is Member of the Body of Experts from the National Register of Experts for the certification of research and development activity, based on Ministerial Order no. 20242/13.02.2023 in the field of intelligent specialization at the national level: 6. Environment and eco-technologies. Is member of the International Research Institute for Economics and Management, fellow of the International Engineering and Technology, member of the Community on Smart Data and Digital Technology in Education, of the European Expert Network on Economics of Education

of WES Group (World Economic Survey), ifo INSTITUTE, ifo Center for Business Cycle Analysis and Surveys, etc. He is the author of articles published in prestigious international WoS indexed journals, author and coordinator of editorial volumes published in Palgrave Macmillan, Springer, Cambridge Scholars Publishing, Edward Elgar Publishing House, Economic research series of Hitotsubashi Daigaku.
